It’s 2021 and Bloomberg just ranked former Senator and real estate tycoon, Manuel Villar Jr. as the richest man in the Philippines. He is the father of Mark Villar who is a Public Works Secretary. For a while now, it has been reported that Villar owns a lot of real estate companies which makes him rich but how rich is he exactly?
Villar who has a total net worth of $6.72 billion or roughly P232 billion, apparently stands the only Filipino as he was placed 383rd among 500 of the world’s richest people according to Bloomberg index. He was placed 260th last year but still on the top 500 of the world’s richest.
Being the only pure blood Filipino among the other Chinese-Filipino and Spanish-Filipino billionaires in the country, he’s accumulated enough assets to stand on the top. He owns a business empire comprising Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc., Golden Bria Holdings, and The All Value Group among others.
Villar had recently dipped into Telecom business with Duterte granting a 25-year congressional franchise to his telco Streamtech Systems Technologies Inc. in 2018.
Villar had always appeared on the Forbes billionaire list and even in Bloomberg Billionaires Index which is a daily ranking of the world’s richest people. It is a, “dynamic measure of personal wealth based on changes in markets, the economy and Bloomberg reporting.”

Elon Musk holds the top rank with a net worth of $195 billion as the owner of Tesla Inc and the second spot by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos having a net worth of $185 billion. Bill Gates now stands on the third spot with a net worth of $134 billion and the fourth spot shared by Bernard Arnault ($116 billion) and Mark Zuckerberg ($102 billion).
