The hope of returning back to normal still seem far away as of writing but people are already adjusting to the new normal we’ve set to avoid the influx of the infected. Grab delivery drivers are considered as pandemic heroes delivering food to houses and battling the everyday threat of Covid-19. It’s not an easy job, but sometimes there are days that outshines any other day.

Hustling everyday to make the ends meet, Grab Driver Mark Berdan, shares the story of one customer making an unusual request.

Upon recieving the order, an automated message was sent to the customer confirming that the order is on its way. The customer replied back requesting not to deliver the food but instead that he (Mark Berdan) keep the 5 burgers for his family and distribute the others for the street dwellers along the way, “Kuya hindi mo na kailangan pumunta dito ‘yung 30 pcs na burger ipamigay mo along the way diyan sa mga nasa kalsada na nagugutom tapos ‘yung 5pcs pa na burger iuwi sa pamilya mo.”

Shocked at recieving the message, Mark Berdan even asked if his customer was joking and sent back a message saying he will drop the food on her doorstep instead.

The customer explained that she does this regularly and to proceed with distributing the food to the hungry street dwellers he encounters along the way.

Mark did as instructed and took photos as he gave each homeless individuals he passed by along the streets of Alabang and sent them to his customer along with a message of gratitude.

The act of kindness did not go unnoticed and even made the news. The customer continued ordering and Mark is ever thankful being the instrument for her kindness, he says, “Ang na-realize ko lang po na wala man akong financial na maibibigay, maging instrumento ako para makatulong sa mga nangangailangan. Kaya laking pasalamat ko kay Lord at kay customer.”

This heartwarming story had inspired others as well as another lady was seen lining up in a grocery store in Makati and offered to pay for a man’s grocery. A restaurant in Pampangga has a staff that noticed a man who only orders water and rice had decided to buy him a decent meal. Kindness goes a long way as it creates a ripple effect that can inspire others that can build a better world.
