People’s Champ, Manny Pacquiao, once again moves the hearts of the Filipinos as he uses his Globe Endorsement Fee to help the victims of Typhoon Rolly and Ulysses.
For some, Typhoon Rolly and Ulysses are but another addition to the list of typhoons this year but to others, the names alone takes them back to painful memories, loss and fear.
Manny Pacquiao just recently became Globe’s brand new ambassador and the contract signing was held at Mireio, Raffles Hotel in Makati. Joining with him are the Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, and Globe Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala who was also the Chairman of and Ayala Corporation.
What’s shocking is that he donated his earnings to provide relief efforts to those affected by the said typhoons.
Senator and People’s Champ gave a statement, “I am given another God-given opportunity to be of help to our kababayans in any way I can” According to Manny, his endorsement fee will go to relief efforts to help the Filipono who were affected by the devastation of typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.
He also added that everything that they will earn will be given to the people especially to those who have nothing to left and even lost their house during the typhoon. “Sama sama tayong babangon, that is my commitment.”
Globe President and CEO, Ernest Cu, can’t help but admire Manny’s efforts and said as much in a statement that what Manny did to his the Filipino was a very gallant move. His actions was so timely given that the country was suffering from a vast devastation due to typhoon and this pandemic.
Apparently, Globe will also be working with UPSTREAM, the newest transaction video-on-demand (VOD) platform to stream Pacquiao’s fights live. UPSTREAM partner Dondon Monteverde reminded what an icon Pacquiao is, as he said in a statement that they are more than happy to partner with Manny Pacquiao, the People’s Champ. He and his legendary boxing career will be forever inspiration to all the Filipino and to other country to always strive to be better.”
Pacquiao also went to the victims of Ulysses and hosts a donation drive in San Mateo, Rizal. He himself helped in handing out groceries, rice and Php. 1,000 to each families affected by the typhoon.
It was reported that he had apparently handed out to 3,500 families in the area which sums up to 3.5Million for the cash aid alone. He is known to be the most generous public figure which Filipinos continues to look up to as an inspiration and a helping hand in these tough times.
The Boxing Legend reminds everyone to not lose hope as he added in his speech, “By God’s grace, we can look forward to better days for our nation. Remember, the best is yet to come because God is good all the time.”
