Have you ever thought of sending a message you hope wouldn’t stick in your and your recipient’s chat history?

We’ve all had those times that we wish the other person would erase a message you sent or you’ve said something you regret later on. Well, facebook has got a new feature coming that may help with that.

Facebook is introducing “Vanish Mode”, wherein users can set their messages to automatically delete after the message is seen and the chat app closed. It’s pretty much the same feature Snapchat has but this time it’ll be for Facebook messenger and Instagram.

Facebook’s announcement explained ‘Vanish Mode’ as when, “something you want to say in the moment without worrying about it sticking around.” However the feature is only available when you’re chatting with someone you are connected. Another safety design they’ve included is that once the other person takes a screenshot while you are in vanish mode, you will be notified. Pretty amazing, right?

One can have a safe and private messaging experience without worrying about the matter getting to third parties.

The company wants everyone to be familiar with the feature before launching it to their areas. US already has this feature as well as a few other countries but they are aiming for it to be available to everyone soon. On their site they’ve announced a statement about the new feature, “We’re slowly rolling out vanish mode on Messenger and Instagram. The Vanish mode in Messenger is already available in the US and a handful of other countries.”

Another feature they were working on was a cross platform direct messaging between Instagram and Facebook’s messaging app. They’ve yet to announce its release.

Be sure to update your messenger app to get this feature and to activate it, the user only has to swipe up the chat thread and enter vanish mode with the other person. Both will have to enter vanish mode to use the feature and to come back to regular chat mode, they will only have to swipe up again.
